Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

அன்றையதினம் ஆமான் சந்தோஷமும் மனமகிழ்ச்சியுடனும் புறப்பட்டான்; ஆனாலும் ராஜாவின் அரண்மனை வாசலில் இருக்கிற மொர்தெகாய் தனக்கு முன்பு எழுந்திருக்காமலும் அசையாமலும் இருக்கிறதை ஆமான் கண்டபோது, அவன் மொர்தெகாயின்மேல் கடுங்கோபம் அடைந்தவனானான்.

அவனது வீட்டைவிட்டு ஆமான் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியோடு சென்றான். அவன் நல்ல மனநிலையில் இருந்தான். ஆனால் அவன் மொர்தெகாயை அரசனது வாசலில் பார்த்ததும் அவனுக்கு மொர்தெகாய் மீது கோபம் வந்தது. ஆமான் மொர்தெகாய் மீது மிகுந்த கோபமடைந்தான். ஏனென்றால், அவன் ஆமான் நடந்து வரும்போது எவ்வித மரியாதையையும் தரவில்லை. மொர்தெகாய் ஆமானைக் கண்டு பயப்படவில்லை. அது அவனை மேலும் கோபத்திற்குள்ளாக்கிற்று.
