Deuteronomy 18:16
According to all that you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.

ஓரேபிலே சபை கூட்டப்பட்ட நாளில்: நான் சாகாதபடி என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் சத்தத்தை இனி நான் கேளாமலும், இந்தப் பெரிய அக்கினியை இனி நான் காணாமலும் இருப்பேனாக என்று உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நீ வேண்டிக்கொண்டதையெல்லாம் அவர் செய்வார்.

தேவன் இந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசியை உங்களிடம் அனுப்புவது எதற்கென்றால், நீங்கள் இதைத்தான் தேவனிடம் கேட்டுக்கொண்டீர்கள். ஒரேப் மலையிலே நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஒன்றாகக் கூடிய நாளில் நீங்கள் தேவனுடைய சத்தத்தைக்கேட்டும், மலையின்மீது நீங்கள் பார்த்த நெருப்பினைக் கண்டும், பயந்தீர்கள். ஆதலால் நீங்கள்: ‘நமது தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்தை நாங்கள் கேட்க அனுமதிக்க வேண்டாம்! நாங்கள் மரிக்கின்ற அளவிற்கு ஏற்படக் கூடிய மிகப்பெரிய அந்த அக்கினியை நாங்கள் பார்த்திட அனுமதிக்க வேண்டாம்!’ என்றீர்கள். அதற்காகவே, இந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசியை அனுப்புகிறார்.
