Deuteronomy 12:30
Take heed to yourself that you be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before you; and that you enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.

அவர்கள் உனக்கு முன்பாக அழிக்கப்பட்டபின்பு, நீ அவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிச் சிக்கிக்கொள்ளாதபடிக்கும், இந்த மக்கள் தங்கள் தெய்வங்களை வணங்கியதுபோல நானும் வணங்குவேன் என்று சொல்லி அவர்களுடைய தெய்வங்களைக்குறித்துக் கேட்டு விசாரிக்காதபடிக்கும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு.

அவ்வாறு நடந்ததற்கு பின்பு நீங்களும் எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள். அந்த ஜனங்களை அழித்துவிடுவீர்கள். அவர்களது பொய்த் தெய்வங்களை தொழுதுகொள்ளும் வலையில் சிக்கி விடாதீர்கள்! அந்த பொய்த்தெய்வங்களிடம் உதவிக்காக செல்லாமல் எச்சரிக்கையாய் இருங்கள். ‘அவர்கள் அந்த பொய்த் தெய்வங்களை தொழுதுகொண்டார்கள். ஆகவே நானும், அதைப் பின்பற்றி தொழுதுகொள்ளுவேன்!’ என்று சொல்லிவிடாதீர்கள்.
