Thus says the LORD; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:

மேலும்: ஏதோமுடைய மூன்று பாவங்களுக்காகவும், நான்கு பாவங்களுக்காகவும், நான் அவனுடைய தண்டனையைத் திருப்பமாட்டேன்; அவன் தன்னுடைய சகோதரனைப் வாளோடு பின்தொடர்ந்து, தன்னுடைய மனதை இரக்கமற்றதாக்கி, தன்னுடைய கோபத்தினாலே என்றைக்கும் அவனைப் பீறிப்போட்டு, தன்னுடைய கடுங்கோபத்தை நித்திய காலமாக வைத்திருக்கிறானே.

கர்த்தர் இவற்றைக் கூறுகிறார்: “நான் ஏதோம் ஜனங்களை அவர்களின் பல குற்றங்களுக்காக நிச்சயம் தண்டிப்பேன். ஏனென்றால் ஏதோம் தன் சகோதரன் இஸ்ரவேலை வாளோடு துரத்தினான். ஏதோம் இரக்கம் காட்டவில்லை. ஏதோமின் கோபம் இடைவிடாமல் தொடர்ந்து காட்டு மிருகங்களைப்போல இஸ்ரவேலர்களைக் கிழித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தான்.

மேலும்: ஏதோமுடைய மூன்று பாதகங்களினிமித்தமும், நாலு பாதகங்களினிமித்தமும், நான் அவன் ஆக்கினையைத் திருப்பமாட்டேன்; அவன் தன் சகோதரனைப் பட்டயத்தோடே தொடர்ந்து, தன் மனதை இரக்கமற்றதாக்கி, தன் கோபத்தினாலே என்றைக்கும் அவனைப் பீறிப்போட்டு, தன் மூர்க்கத்தை நித்தியகாலமாக வைத்திருக்கிறானே.
