சில நல்ல மனிதர்கள் ஸ்தேவானைப் புதைத்தனர். அவர்கள் அவனுக்காகச் சத்தமிட்டு அழுதனர். எருசலேமிலுள்ள விசுவாசிகளின் கூட்டத்திற்கு அன்றிலிருந்து யூதர்கள் தீங்கிழைக்க ஆரம்பித்தனர். அவர்களை அதிகமாகத் துன்புறுமாறு யூதர்கள் செய்தனர். அக்கூட்டத்தை அழிப்பதற்கு சவுலும் முயன்றுகொண்டிருந்தான். சவுல் அவர்களின் வீடுகளுக்குள் நுழைந்தான். அவர்களில் ஆண்களையும் பெண்களையும் வெளியே இழுத்து வந்து சிறைக்குள் தள்ளினான். எல்லா விசுவாசிகளும் எருசலேமைவிட்டு அகன்றனர். அப்போஸ்தலர்கள் மட்டுமே அங்குத் தங்கினர். யூதேயா, மற்றும் சமாரியா ஆகிய நாடுகளின் பல பகுதிகளுக்கும் விசுவாசிகள் சென்றனர்.
