Moreover Ruth the Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: all of you are witnesses this day.

இதுவுமல்லாமல், இறந்தவனுடைய சகோதரர்களுக்குள்ளும், ஊரார்களுக்குள்ளும், அவனுடைய பெயர் அற்றுப்போகாமல், மரித்தவனுடைய சுதந்திரத்திலே அவனுடைய பெயரை நிலைநிறுத்த, நான் மக்லோனின் மனைவியாக இருந்த மோவாபியப் பெண்ணான ரூத்தை எனக்கு மனைவியாகக் கொண்டேன்; அதற்கும் இன்றையதினம் நீங்கள் சாட்சி என்றான்.

நான் ரூத்தையும் என் மனைவியாகப் பெற்றுக்கொள்கிறேன். இவ்வாறு நான் செய்வதால், மரித்துப்போனவனின் சொத்தானது அவனது குடும்பத்துக்கு உரியதாகவே விளங்கும். இதன் மூலம் அவனது பெயரானது அவனது குடும்பத்தையும் சொத்துக்களையும் விட்டு பிரிக்கப்படாமல் இருக்கும். இன்று இதற்கு நீங்களே சாட்சிகளாக இருக்கிறீர்கள்” என்றான்.
