Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

எனவே, சுதந்திரமானது கிருபையினால் உண்டாகிறதாக இருப்பதற்காக அது விசுவாசத்தினாலே வருகிறது; நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தைச் சேர்ந்த வம்சத்தினர்களுக்குமட்டும் இல்லை, நம் எல்லோருக்கும் தகப்பனாகிய ஆபிரகாமுடைய விசுவாசத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களான எல்லா வம்சத்தினர்களுக்கும் அந்த வாக்குத்தத்தம் நிச்சயமாக இருப்பதற்காக அப்படி வருகிறது.

எனவே மக்கள் தேவனுடைய வாக்குறுதியை விசுவாசத்தின் மூலம் பெறுகின்றனர். இவ்வாறு நிகழ்வதால் இதுகொடையாகிறது. இது இலவசமான கொடையானால் இதனை ஆபிரகாமின் பிள்ளைகளாய் விளங்கும் அத்தனை பேரும் பெற்றுக்கொள்கின்றனர். இவ்வாக்குறுதி மோசேயின் சட்டவிதிகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிகிறவர்களுக்கு மட்டுமல்ல, அனைவருக்கும் கிடைக்கிறது. ஆபிரகாமைப் போன்று விசுவாசம் கொள்ளும் அனைவரும் அதனைப் பெறலாம். அதனால்தான் ஆபிரகாம் அனைவருக்கும் தந்தையாகிறான்.
