Jeremiah 3:1
They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but you have played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, says the LORD.

“ஒருவன் அவனது மனைவியை விவாகரத்து செய்கிறான். அவள் அவனை விட்டு விலகுகிறாள். அவள் இன்னொருவனை மணந்துகொள்கிறாள். அவனால் அவனது மனைவியிடம் மீண்டும் வர முடியுமா? இல்லை! அவன் அந்தப் பெண்ணிடம் மீண்டும் போனால் பிறகு அந்நாடு ‘அழுக்காகி’ விடும். யூதாவே, பல நேசரோடே (பொய்த் தெய்வங்களோடு) நீ ஒரு வேசியைப்போன்று நடந்தாய். இப்போது நீ என்னிடம் திரும்பி வா!” என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார்.
