And his servants came near, and spoke unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid you do some great thing, would you not have done it? how much rather then, when he says to you, Wash, and be clean?

அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் அருகில் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: தகப்பனே, அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசி ஒரு பெரிய காரியத்தைச் செய்யச் சொல்லியிருந்தால் அதை நீர் செய்வீர் அல்லவா? மூழ்கி எழும், அப்பொழுது சுத்தமாவீர் என்று அவர் உம்மோடே சொல்லும்போது, அதைச் செய்யவேண்டியது எத்தனை அதிகம் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

ஆனால் நாகமானின் வேலைக்காரர்கள் அவனிடம் வந்து, “தந்தையே! தீர்க்கதரிசி உம்மிடம் சில பெருஞ்செயல்களைச் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று சொல்லியிருந்தால், நீர் செய்திருப்பீரல்லவா? எனவே அவர் எளிதானவற்றைச் சொன்னாலும் அதற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியவேண்டும். அவர் (தீர்க்கதரிசி), ‘ஸ்நானம் பண்ணு நீ சுத்தமடைவாய்’ என்று கூறியிருக்கிறார்” என்றனர்.
