Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus says the LORD, All of you have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

அப்பொழுது செமாயா தீர்க்கதரிசி ரெகொபெயாமிடத்திற்கும், சீஷாக்கினிமித்தம் எருசலேமிலே வந்து கூடியிருக்கிற யூதாவின் பிரபுக்களிடத்திற்கும் வந்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் என்னை விட்டுவிட்டீர்கள், ஆகையால் நான் உங்களையும் சீஷாக்கின் கையிலே விழுவதற்கு விட்டுவிட்டேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

பிறகு செமாயா எனும் தீர்க்கதரிசி ரெகொ பெயாமிடமும் யூதத் தலைவர்களிடமும் வந்தான். அந்த யூதத் தலைவர்கள் எருசலேமில் கூடியிருந்தனர். ஏனென்றால் அவர்கள் சீஷாக்குக்குப் பயந்தனர். செமாயா அவர்களிடம், “கர்த்தரால் சொல்லப்பட்டது இதுதான்: ‘ரெகொபெயாம்! நீயும், உனது ஜனங்களும் என்னைவிட்டு விலகி எனது சட்டங்களுக்கு கீழ்ப்படிய மறுத்துவிட்டீர்கள். எனவே இப்போது உன்னைவிட்டு நான் விலகி நான் உங்களைச் சீஷாக்கின் கையில் அகப்படச் செய்வேன்’” என்றான்.
