And she looked, and, behold, the king stood at his pillar at the entering in, and the princes and the trumpets by the king: and all the people of the land rejoiced, and sounded with trumpets, also the singers with instruments of music, and such as taught to sing praise. Then Athaliah rent her clothes, and said, Treason, Treason.

இதோ, நுழைவாயிலில் உள்ள தன்னுடைய தூண் அருகில் ராஜா நிற்கிறதையும், ராஜாவின் அருகில் நிற்கிற பிரபுக்களையும், எக்காளம் ஊதுகிறவர்களையும், தேசத்து மக்களெல்லோரும் சந்தோஷப்பட்டு எக்காளங்கள் ஊதுகிறதையும், கீதவாத்தியங்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு பாடகர்களும் இசைத்தலைவர்களும் துதிக்கிறதையும் கண்டாள்; அப்பொழுது அத்தாலியாள் தன் உடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: துரோகம் துரோகம் என்று சத்தமிட்டாள்.

அவள் அரசனைக் கண்டாள், முன்வாயிலுக்கு முன்னால் உள்ள தூணுக்கருகில் அரசன் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தான். அதிகாரிகளும் எக்காளம் ஊதுகிறவர்களும் அரசனுக்கருகில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தனர். அந்த நாட்டு ஜனங்கள் மகிழ்ச்சியோடு எக்காளம் ஊதினார்கள். பாடகர்களும் இசைக்கருவிகளை இயக்கினார்கள். அவர்கள் ஜனங்களையும் துதித்துப் பாடும்படிச் செய்தனர். அத்தாலியாள் இதனைப் பார்த்து தன் ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, “துரோகம் துரோகம்” என்று கத்தினாள்.
