Behold, this day yours eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered you to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill you: but mine eye spared you; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD's anointed.

இதோ, கர்த்தர் இன்று குகையில் உம்மை என்னுடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்பதை இன்றையதினம் உம்முடைய கண்கள் கண்டதே, உம்மைக் கொன்றுபோடவேண்டும் என்று சிலர் சொன்னார்கள்; ஆனாலும் என்னுடைய கை உம்மைத் தப்பவிட்டது; என்னுடைய ஆண்டவன்மேல் என்னுடைய கையைப் போடேன்; அவர் கர்த்தரால் அபிஷேகம்செய்யப்பட்டவராமே என்றேன்.

நான் உமக்குத் தீமை செய்ய விரும்பவில்லை! இதனை உமது கண்களாலேயே பார்க்கலாம்! இன்று கர்த்தர் உம்மைக் குகைக்குள் அனுப்பினார். ஆனால் நான் உம்மைக் கொல்ல மறுத்து விட்டேன். உம் மீது இரக்கம் கொண்டேன். நானோ, ‘நான் என் எஜமானனுக்குத் தீமை செய்யமாட்டேன்! சவுல் கர்த்தரால் தேர்ந்தெடுக்கப்பட்ட அரசன்!’ என்று கூறினேன்.
