1 Samuel 17:25
And the men of Israel said, Have all of you seen this man that has come up? surely to defy Israel is he comes up: and it shall be, that the man who kills him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.

அந்தநேரத்தில் இஸ்ரவேலர்கள்: வந்து நிற்கிற அந்த மனிதனைப் பார்த்தீர்களா?, இஸ்ரவேலை நிந்திக்க வந்து நிற்கிறான்; இவனைக் கொல்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவனை ராஜா மிகவும் ஐசுவரியவானாக்கி, அவனுக்குத் தம்முடைய மகளைத் தந்து, அவனுடைய தகப்பன் வீட்டாரை இஸ்ரவேலிலே வரியில்லாமல் வாழச் செய்வார் என்றார்கள்.

இஸ்ரவேலர், “கோலியாத் வெளியில் வந்து இஸ்ரவேலரை மீண்டும் மீண்டும் கேலிக்குள்ளாக்கினதைப் பார்த்தீர்களா! அவனை யார் கொன்றாலும் சவுல் அரசன் அவனுக்கு நிறையப் பணம் கொடுத்து, தனது மகளை அவனுக்கு மணம் செய்து கொடுப்பான். சவுல் அவனது குடும்பத்திற்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் மத்தியில் சுதந்திரம் அளிப்பான்” என்றார்கள்.
