“সীদোনের লোকরা লিবানোন থেকে মিষ্রফোত্‌-মযিম পর্য়ন্ত বিস্তৃত পাহাড়ি দেশে বাস করে| কিন্তু ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের স্বার্থে ঐসব দেশের সমস্ত লোককে আমি বের করে দেব| এই দেশের কথা অবশ্যই মনে রাখবে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের কাছে দেশ ভাগ করে দেবার সময় যা বললাম সে রকম করবে|

যদি তাদের সঙ্গে বন্ধুত্ব করো তাহলে প্রভু তোমাদের ঈশ্বর তোমাদের শত্রু দমনের কাজে সাহায্য করবেন না| এই সব লোকই হচ্ছে তোমাদের মরণ ফাঁদ| চোখে ধূলো বা ধোঁযা ঢোকার মতো এরা তোমাদের যন্ত্রণা দেবে| এই উত্তম দেশ থেকে সরে য়েতে তখন তোমরা বাধ্য হবে| প্রভু, তোমাদের ঈশ্বর, তোমাদের এই দেশ দিয়েছেন| কিন্তু তাঁর আদেশ না মানলে এই দেশ তোমরা হারাবে|

Judges 2:21
তাই আমি আর অন্যান্য জাতিকে হারিযে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের পথ পরিষ্কার করব না| এই সব বিদেশী জাতি যিহোশূয়র মৃত্যুর সমযেও এই দেশে বসবাস করত| আমি তাদের এদেশেই থাকতে দেব|
