যিহূদার শাসকবৃন্দ শুনলেন কি কি ঘটেছে| তাই তাঁরা রাজপ্রাসাদের বাইরে বেরিয়ে এসে প্রভুর মন্দিরে গিয়েছিলেন| তাঁরা নতুন ফটকের প্রবেশদ্বারের মুখে, য়েটা প্রভুর মন্দিরের দিকে যাচ্ছে সেখানে বসলেন| ঐ নতুন ফটকদ্বারের পথ প্রভুর মন্দিরকেই নির্দেশ করে|

ইল্নাথন, দলায এবং গমরিয চেষ্টা করেছিল রাজার সঙ্গে কথা বলার যাতে তিনি খাতাটি না পোড়ান| কিন্তু রাজা তাদের কথা শোনেননি|

তাই আমি চাই তুমি প্রভুর উপাসনা গৃহে যাও| সেখানে একটি উপবাসের দিন যাও এবং এই পুঁথি থেকে প্রভুর কথাগুলি লোকেদের পড়ে শোনাও| আমি যা বলেছি তুমি তা লিখেছো এগুলো সবই প্রভুর বার্তা| যাও গিয়ে যিহূদার বিভিন্ন শহর থেকে জেরুশালেমে আসা সমস্ত লোককে এই বার্তা খাতা থেকে পাঠ করে শোনাও|

যিহূদার রাজা সিদিকিয় নবূখদ্রিত্‌সরের কাছে ইলিয়াসা এবং গমরিযকে পাঠিয়েছিল| ইলিয়াসা ছিল শাফনের পুত্র এবং গমরিয ছিল হিল্কিয়ের পুত্র| যিরমিয় ঐ দুজনকে বাবিলে পৌঁছিযে দেওয়ার জন্য একটি চিঠি দিয়েছিল| চিঠির বক্তব্য ছিল এই:

যিহূদায় অহীকাম নামে এক ব্যক্তি ছিলেন| অহীকাম ছিলেন শাফনের পুত্র| অহীকাম যিরমিয়কে সমর্থন জানিয়ে ছিলেন| তিনি যিরমিয়কে যাজক এবং ভাব্বাদীদের হত্যার য়ড়য়ন্ত্র থেকে বাঁচিয়ে ছিলেন|

রাজপ্রাসাদের চৌকিদার, হিল্কিয়ের পুত্র ইলিয়াকীম, শেব্ন ও আসফের পুত্র, তথ্য়সংগ্রাহক য়োয়াহ হিষ্কিয়র কাছে এল| শোকপ্রকাশের জন্য তারা ছেঁড়া জামাকাপড় পরেছিল| অশূররাজের সেনাপতি তাদের কি বলেছেন, তারা সেই সব রাজা হিষ্কিয়কে জানাল|
