Genesis 37
1 যাকোব কনান দেশেই বাস করতে লাগল| এই সেই দেশ যেখানে পূর্বে তার পিতা বাস করতেন|
2 যাকোবের পরিবারের বৃত্তান্ত এইরকম|য়োষেফ তখন 17 বছর বযস্ক যুবক| তার কাজ ছিল মেষ, ছাগলের তত্ত্বাবধান করা| য়োষেফ এই কাজ করতেন তার ভাইয়েদের সঙ্গে অর্থাত্ বিল্হা ও সিল্পার সন্তানদের সঙ্গে| (বিল্হা ও সিল্পা তাঁর সত্ মা ছিলেন|) ভাইয়েরা মন্দ কাজ করলে য়োষেফ তা তাঁর পিতাকে এসে জানাতেন|
3 য়োষেফ ছিলেন ইস্রায়েলের বৃদ্ধাবস্থার সন্তান| এই জন্য ইস্রায়েল তার অন্যান্য পুত্রদের চেযে য়োষেফকেই বেশী ভালবাসতেন| যাকোব তাকে একটা বিশেষ জামা উপহার দিয়েছিল| জামাটি ছিল লম্বা এবং বেশ সুন্দর|
4 য়োষেফের ভাইয়েরা দেখল য়ে তাদের পিতা তাদের চাইতে য়োষেফকেই বেশী ভালবাসেন| এইজন্য তারা তাকে ঘৃণা করতে লাগল| তারা য়োষেফের সাতে বন্ধুভাবে কথা বলতেও চাইল না|
5 একদিন য়োষেফ একটা স্বপ্ন দেখলেন| পরে তিনি তার ভাইদের সেই স্বপ্নটা বললেন| এরপর তার ভাইয়েরা তাকে আরও ঘৃণা করতে থাকল|
6 য়োষেফ বললেন, “আমি একটা স্বপ্ন দেখেছি|
7 দেখলাম আমরা সকলে ক্ষেতে কাজ করছি| আমরা সকলে গমের আঁটি বাঁধছিলাম, এমন সময় আমার আঁটিটা উঠে দাঁড়াল| আর আমার আঁটির চারপাশে গোল করে ঘিরে থাকা তোমাদের আঁটিগুলো একে একে আমারটিকে প্রণাম জানাল|”
8 তার ভাইয়েরা বলল, “তুমি কি মনে কর এর অর্থ তুমি আমাদের রাজা হয়ে আমাদের উপর রাজত্ব করবে?” তার ভাইয়েরা তাদের সম্বন্ধে দেখা এই স্বপ্নের জন্য তাকে আরও ঘৃণা করতে লাগল|
9 এরপর য়োষেফ আরেকটি স্বপ্ন দেখে সেই স্বপ্ন সম্বন্ধে তার ভাইয়েদের বললেন, “আমি আরেকটি স্বপ্ন দেখেছি| দেখলাম সূর্য়, চাঁদ এবং এগারোটি তারা আমাকে প্রণাম করছে|”
10 য়োষেফ তাঁর পিতাকেও এই স্বপ্নটি সম্বন্ধে বললেন| কিন্তু তাঁর পিতা এর সমালোচনা করে বললেন, “এ কি ধরণের স্বপ্ন? তুমি কি বিশ্বাস কর য়ে তোমার মা, তোমার ভাইয়েরা, এমনকি আমিও তোমায় প্রণাম করব?”
11 য়োষেফের ভাইয়েরা তাঁকে ঈর্ষা করত| কিন্তু য়োষেফের পিতা সেসব মনে রাখলেন আর ভেবে অবাক হলেন যে এর অর্থ কি হতে পারে|
12 একদিন য়োষেফের ভাইয়েরা শিখিমে গেল তাদের পিতার মেষ চরাতে|
13 যাকোব য়োষেফকে বলল, “শিখিমে যাও| সেখানে তোমার ভাইয়েরা আমার মেষ চরাচ্ছে|”য়োষেফ উত্তর করলেন, “আমি যাবো|”
14 য়োষেফের পিতা বললেন, “যাও গিয়ে দেখ তোমার ভাইয়েরা নিরাপদে আছে কিনা| তারপর ফিরে এসে আমাদের জানিও মেষদের অবস্থা কেমন|” এইভাবে য়োষেফের পিতা তাকে হিব্রোণ উপত্যকা থেকে শিখিমে পাঠালেন|
15 শিখিমে য়োষেফ পথ হারালে একজন লোক তাঁকে মাঠে ঘুরে বেড়াতে দেখল| সেই লোকটি বলল, “তুমি কি খুঁজে বেড়াচ্ছ?”
16 য়োষেফ উত্তর দিলেন, “আমি আমার ভাইদের খোঁজ করছি| বলতে পারেন তারা তাদের মেষ নিয়ে কোথায় গেছে?”
17 সেই লোকটি বলল, “তারা তো চলে গেছে| আমি তাদের দোথনে যাবার কথা বলতে শুনেছিলাম|” তাই য়োষেফ তার ভাইদের খুঁজতে গেলেন এবং দোথনে তাদের খুঁজে পেলেন|
18 য়োষেফের ভাইয়েরা তাকে দূর থেকে আসতে দেখে তাকে হত্যা করার পরিকল্পনা করল|
19 ভাইয়েরা নিজেদের মধ্যে বলাবলি করল, “ঐ দেখ স্বপ্নদর্শক য়োষেফ আসছে| তাকে মেরে ফেলার
20 এই তো সুয়োগ| তাকে আমরা য়ে কোন একটা খালি কূপের মধ্যে ফেলে দিয়ে পিতাকে গিয়ে বলতে পারি য়ে এক বুনো জন্তু তাকে মেরে ফেলেছে| এইভাবে আমরা ওকে দেখাব য়ে তার স্বপ্নগুলো অসার|”
21 কিন্তু রূবেণ য়োষেফের প্রাণ বাঁচাতে চাইল|
22 সে বলল, “আমরা তাকে হত্যা করব না| এস, আমরা তাকে হত্যা না করে বরং বিনা আঘাতে ঐ শুকনো কূপের মধ্যে ফেলে দিই|” রূবেণের পরিকল্পনা ছিল য়োষেফকে এইভাবে উদ্ধার করে তার পিতার কাছে ফেরত পাঠানোর|
23 য়োষেফ তার ভাইদের কাছে এলে তারা তাকে আক্রমণ করে তার সুন্দর লম্বা জামাটা ছিঁড়ে ফেলল|
24 এরপর তারা তাকে ধরে ছুঁড়ে দিল এক শুকনো কূপের মধ্যে|
25 য়োষেফ যখন কূপের মধ্যে, সেই সময় তার ভাইয়েরা খেতে বসল| এইসময় তারা একদল বণিককে দেখতে পেল যারা গিলিয়দ থেকে মিশরে যাত্রা করছিল| তাদের উটগুলো বহন করছিল বহু রকম মশলা ও ধন দৌলত|
26 তাই যিহূদা তার ভাইয়েদের বলল, “আমাদের ভাইকে হত্যা করে আর তার মৃত্যুর সংবাদ গোপন করে আমাদের কি লাভ হবে?
27 এর থেকে লাভ হবে যদি আমরা তাকে এই বণিকদের কাছে বিক্রী করে দিই| এভাবে আমরা আমাদের নিজের ভাইয়ের মৃত্যুর জন্য দোষীও হব না|” অন্য ভাইয়েরাও সম্মতি জানাল|
28 মিদিয়নীয় বণিকরা কাছে আসতেই ভাইয়েরা য়োষেফকে কূপ থেকে তুলে আনলো| তারা তাকে 20 টি রৌপ্যমুদ্রার বিনিময়ে বিক্রী করে দিল| বণিকরা এবার তাকে মিশরে নিয়ে চলল|
29 এই সময় রূবেণ সেখানে তার ভাইয়েদের সঙ্গে ছিল না| সে জানতোও না য়ে তারা য়োষেফকে বিক্রী করে দিয়েছে| রূবেণ কূপের ধারে ফিরে এসে দেখল য়োষেফ সেখানে নেই| তখন সে দুঃখ প্রকাশ করার জন্য নিজের কাপড় ছিঁড়ে ফেলল|
30 ভাইয়েদের কাছে ফিরে গিয়ে রূবেণ বলল, “ছেলেটা সেখানে নেই, এখন আমি কি করব?”
31 ভাইয়েরা তখন একটা ছাগল মেরে তার রক্তে য়োষেফের সুন্দর শালটা রাঙ্গিয়ে দিল|
32 এরপর তারা সেই শালটা তাদের পিতাকে দেখাল| ভাইয়েরা বলল, “আমরা এই শালটা পেয়েছি, দেখুন তো এটা য়োষেফের কিনা?”
33 তাদের পিতা শালটা দেখে চিনতে পারলেন য়ে সেটা য়োষেফেরই| পিতা বললেন, “হ্যাঁ, এটা তো তারই! হয়তো কোনো বন্য জন্তু তাকে মেরে ফেলেছে| আমার পুত্র য়োষেফকে এক হিংস্র পশু খেয়ে ফেলেছে!”
34 পুত্র শোকে যাকোব তার কাপড় ছিঁড়ে ফেলল, তারপর চট বস্ত্র পরে দীর্ঘ সময় তার পুত্রের জন্য শোক করল|
35 যাকোবের পুত্র কন্যারা তাকে সান্ত্বনা দিতে চাইল| কিন্তু যাকোবকে সান্ত্বনা দেওয়া গেল না| সে বলল, “আমার মৃত্যু দিন পর্য্ন্ত আমি আমার পুত্রের জন্য দুঃখ করে যাব|”তাই যাকোব য়োষেফের জন্য দুঃখিত হয়ে রইল|
36 মিদিয়নীয় বণিকরা পরে য়োষেফকে মিশরে নিয়ে গিয়ে ফরৌণের রক্ষক সেনাপতি পোটীফরের কাছে বিক্রি করে দিল|
1 And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
12 And his brethren went to feed their father’s flock in Shechem.
13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
14 And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
15 And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?
16 And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.
17 And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
21 And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.
22 And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.
23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
27 Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
29 And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.
30 And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?
31 And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;
32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son’s coat or no.
33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, and captain of the guard.
Genesis 41 in Tamil and English
1 দু বছর পর ফরৌণ একটা স্বপ্ন দেখলেন| দেখলেন তিনি নীল নদীর ধারে দাঁড়িয়ে রয়েছেন|
And it came to pass at the end of two full years, that Pharaoh dreamed: and, behold, he stood by the river.
2 স্বপ্নে নদী থেকে সাতটা গরু উঠে এসে ঘাস খেতে লাগল| গরুগুলো ছিল হৃষ্টপুষ্ট, দেখতেও ভালো|
And, behold, there came up out of the river seven well favoured kine and fatfleshed; and they fed in a meadow.
3 এরপর নদী থেকে আরও সাতটা গরু উঠে এসে পাড়ের হৃষ্টপুষ্ট গরুগুলোর গা ঘেঁসে দাঁড়াল| কিন্তু ঐ গরুগুলো রোগা ছিল, দেখতেও অসুস্থ|
And, behold, seven other kine came up after them out of the river, ill favoured and leanfleshed; and stood by the other kine upon the brink of the river.
4 সেই সাতটা অসুস্থ গরু সাতটা হৃষ্টপুষ্ট গরুগুলোকে খেয়ে ফেলল| তখনই ফরৌণের ঘুম ভেঙ্গে গেল|
And the ill favoured and leanfleshed kine did eat up the seven well favoured and fat kine. So Pharaoh awoke.
5 ফরৌণ আবার শুতে গেলেন; আবার স্বপ্ন দেখলেন| এইবার দেখলেন একটা গাছে সাতটা শীষ বেড়ে উঠছে| শীষগুলো পুষ্ট এবং শস্যে ভরা|
And he slept and dreamed the second time: and, behold, seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk, rank and good.
6 তারপর দেখলেন আরও সাতটা শীষ উঠছে| কিন্তু শীষগুলো অপুষ্ট আর পূবের বাতাসে ঝলসে গেছে|
And, behold, seven thin ears and blasted with the east wind sprung up after them.
7 এরপর ঐ রোগা রোগা সাতটা শীষ পুষ্ট সাতটা শীষকে খেয়ে ফেলল| ফরৌণের ঘুম আবার ভেঙ্গে গেল| তিনি বুঝলেন য়ে তিনি স্বপ্ন দেখছিলেন|
And the seven thin ears devoured the seven rank and full ears. And Pharaoh awoke, and, behold, it was a dream.
8 পরের দিন সকালে রাতে দেখা স্বপ্নগুলোর জন্য ফরৌণের মন অস্থির হয়ে উঠল| তাই তিনি মিশরের সমস্ত যাদুকর ও জ্ঞানী লোকদের ডেকে পাঠালেন| ফরৌণ তার স্বপ্ন তাদের বললেন কিন্তু কেউ তার অর্থ বলতে পারল না|
And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.
9 তখন পানপাত্রবাহকের য়োষেফের কথা মনে পড়ল| ভৃত্যটি ফরৌণকে বলল, “আমার সাথে যা ঘটেছিল তা মনে পড়ছে|
Then spake the chief butler unto Pharaoh, saying, I do remember my faults this day:
10 আপনি আমার ও রুটিওয়ালার উপর রেগে গিয়েছিলেন এবং আমাদের বন্দী করেছিলেন|
Pharaoh was wroth with his servants, and put me in ward in the captain of the guard’s house, both me and the chief baker:
11 তারপর এক রাতে সে ও আমি স্বপ্ন দেখলাম| প্রত্যেকটি স্বপ্নের আলাদা অর্থ ছিল|
And we dreamed a dream in one night, I and he; we dreamed each man according to the interpretation of his dream.
12 আমাদের সাথে কারাগারে এক ইব্রীয় যুবক ছিল| সে ছিল রক্ষীদের অধিকারী ভৃত্য| আমরা তাকে আমাদের স্বপ্ন বললে সে তার মানে বলে দিল|
And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
13 আর সে যা বলল বাস্তবে তাই-ই ঘটল| সে বলেছিল য়ে আমি মুক্তি পেয়ে আবার পুরানো কাজ ফিরে পাব - ঘটলও তাই| রুটিওয়ালা সম্বন্ধে বলেছিল য়ে সে মারা যাবে - ঘটলও তাই|”
And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.
14 তাই ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে ডেকে পাঠালে দুজন রক্ষী দ্রুত তাকে কারাগার থেকে বের করে আনল| য়োষেফ দাড়ি কামালেন, পরিষ্কার জামা পরলেন| তারপর ফরৌণের সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন|
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
15 ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে বললেন, “আমি একটা স্বপ্ন দেখেছি কিন্তু কেউ তার ব্যাখ্যা করতে পারছে না| আমি শুনেছি য়ে তুমি স্বপ্ন শুনলে তার ব্যাখ্যা করতে পার|”
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.
16 উত্তরে য়োষেফ বললেন, “আমি পারি না! কিন্তু হয়তো ফরৌণের জন্য ঈশ্বর তার অর্থ বলে দেবেন|”
And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.
17 তখন ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে বলতে লাগলেন, “আমার দেখা স্বপ্নে আমি নীল নদীর ধারে দাঁড়িয়েছিলাম|
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, In my dream, behold, I stood upon the bank of the river:
18 তখন নদী থেকে সাতটা গরু উঠে এসে ঘাস খেতে শুরু করল| গরুগুলো ছিল হৃষ্টপুষ্ট, দেখতেও সুন্দর|
And, behold, there came up out of the river seven kine, fatfleshed and well favoured; and they fed in a meadow:
19 তারপর আমি নদী থেকে আরও সাতটি গরু উঠে আসতে দেখলাম| কিন্তু এই গরুগুলো রোগা রোগা, দেখতেও অসুস্থ| ঐরকম বিশ্রী গরু আমি মিশরে কখনও দেখি নি|
And, behold, seven other kine came up after them, poor and very ill favoured and leanfleshed, such as I never saw in all the land of Egypt for badness:
20 তারপর রোগা অসুস্থ গরুগুলো প্রথমে আসা হৃষ্টপুষ্ট গরুগুলোকে খেয়ে ফেলল|
And the lean and the ill favoured kine did eat up the first seven fat kine:
21 কিন্তু তাও তাদের চেহারা রোগা আর অসুস্থই রইল| দেখে মনেই হবে না যা তারা সেই মোটা মোটা গরুগুলো খেয়েছে| তারপর আমার ঘুম ভেঙ্গে গেল|
And when they had eaten them up, it could not be known that they had eaten them; but they were still ill favoured, as at the beginning. So I awoke.
22 “আমার পরের স্বপ্নে আমি দেখলাম একটা গাছে সাতটা শীষ বেড়ে উঠছে| শীষগুলো পুষ্ট শস্যের দানায ভরা|
And I saw in my dream, and, behold, seven ears came up in one stalk, full and good:
23 তারপর সেগুলোর পরে সাতটা আরও শীষ উঠে এলো| কিন্তু এগুলো রোগা আর পূবের বাতাসে ঝলসানো ছিল|
And, behold, seven ears, withered, thin, and blasted with the east wind, sprung up after them:
24 এরপর সেই অপুষ্ট শীষগুলো পুষ্ট শীষগুলোকে খেয়ে ফেলল|“আমার যাদুকরদের আমি এই স্বপ্নগুলো বললাম বটে কিন্তু তারা তার অর্থ বলতে পারল না| স্বপ্নগুলোর অর্থ কি?”
And the thin ears devoured the seven good ears: and I told this unto the magicians; but there was none that could declare it to me.
25 তখন য়োষেফ ফরৌণকে বললেন, “এই দুই স্বপ্নের বিষয়টা এক| ঈশ্বর শীঘ্রই যা করতে চলেছেন তা আপনার কাছে প্রকাশ করেছেন|
And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
26 উভয় স্বপ্নের প্রকৃত অর্থ এক| সাতটা ভাল গরু এবং সাতটা ভাল শীষ সাতটা ভাল বছরকে বোঝাচ্ছে|
The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.
27 আর সাতটা রোগা গরু, সাতটা অপুষ্ট শীষ বোঝায় সাতটা দুর্ভিক্ষের বছর| সাতটা ভাল বছরের পর দুর্ভিক্ষের সাত বছর আসবে|
And the seven thin and ill favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.
28 শীঘ্র যা ঘটতে চলেছে ঈশ্বর তাই-ই আপনাকে দেখিয়েছেন| য়ে ভাবে আমি বললাম ঈশ্বর সেইভাবেই এসব ঘটাবেন|
This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.
29 সাত বছর মিশরে প্রচুর শস্য উত্পন্ন হবে|
Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
30 কিন্তু তারপর আসবে দুর্ভিক্ষের সাতটা বছর| মিশরের লোকরা ভুলে যাবে অতীতে কত শস্যই না হত| এই দুর্ভিক্ষে দেশ নষ্ট হবে|
And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
31 লোকরা ভুলে যাবে শস্যের প্রাচুর্য়্য় বলতে কি বোঝায|
And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.
32 “ফরৌণ, আপনি একটি বিষয় নিয়ে দুটি স্বপ্ন দেখেছন| কারণ ঈশ্বর য়ে সত্যিই তা ঘটাতে চলেছেন তা আপনাকে দেখাতে চাইলেন| আর তিনি শীঘ্রই তা ঘটাবেন|
And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
33 তাই ফরৌণ, আপনার উচিত্ একজন সুবুদ্ধি ও জ্ঞানবান লোক খুঁজে তাকে মিশর দেশের জন্য নিযুক্ত করা|
Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.
34 তারপর আপনি অন্য লোকদের নিয়োগ করুন য়েন তারা খাদ্য সংগ্রহ করে| সাতটি ভাল বছরের প্রত্যেকটি লোক তাদের উত্ পন্ন শস্যের এক পঞ্চমাংশ সেই লোকদের দিক|
Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.
35 এইভাবে ঐ লোকরা ঐ সাতটি ভাল বছরে প্রচুর খাদ্য সংগ্রহ করে প্রয়োজন না পড়া পর্য্ন্ত শহরে শহরে সংগ্রহ করে রাখবে| এইভাবে ফরৌণ, আপনার অধীনে ঐ খাদ্য আসবে|
And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
36 তারপর দুর্ভিক্ষের সাত বছরে মিশর দেশের জন্য খাদ্য থাকবে| আর দুর্ভিক্ষে মিশর ধ্বংস হয়ে যাবে না|”
And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perish not through the famine.
37 এই পরিকল্পনা ফরৌণের মনপুতঃ হল আর তাঁর আধিকারিকরাও মেনে নিল|
And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
38 তারপর ফরৌণ তাদের বললেন, “ঐ কাজ করার জন্যে মনে হয় না আমরা য়োষেফের থেকে আর ভাল কাউকে পাব! ঈশ্বরের আত্মা তার সঙ্গে রয়েছে আর সেই জন্যই সে জ্ঞানবান!”
And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
39 তাই ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে বললেন, “ঈশ্বর তোমাকে এই সমস্ত যখন জানিয়েছেন তখন তোমার মত জ্ঞানী আর কে হতে পারে?
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
40 আমি তোমাকে আমার নিয়ন্ত্রণের জন্য নিযুক্ত করলাম, সমস্ত লোক তোমার আদেশ পালন করবে| ক্ষমতার দিক থেকে কেবল আমি তোমার চেযে বড় থাকব|”
Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
41 ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে বিশেষ অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে রাজ্যপাল করলেন| ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে বললেন, “আমি তোমাকে সমগ্র মিশরের রাজ্যপাল হিসেবে নিযুক্ত করলাম|”
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
42 তারপর ফরৌণ তাঁর আংটি খুলে য়োষেফের হাতে পরিযে দিলেন| সেই আংটিতে রাজকীয ছাপ ছিল| ফরৌণ তাকে মিহি কার্পাসের পোশাক দিলেন এবং তার গলায সোনার হার পরিযে দিলেন|
And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
43 ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে দ্বিতীয় রথে চড়তে দিলেন| রক্ষকরা য়োষেফের রথের আগে আগে য়েতে য়েতে লোকদের বলতে থাকল, “য়োষেফের সামনে হাঁটু গাড়ো|”এইভাবে য়োষেফ সমগ্র মিশরের রাজ্যপাল হলেন|
And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
44 ফরৌণ তাকে বললেন, “আমি রাজা ফরৌণ, সুতরাং আমি যা চাই তাই করব কিন্তু মিশরের আর কেউ তোমার আজ্ঞা ছাড়া হাত অথবা পা তুলতে পারবে না|”
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.
45 ফরৌণ য়োষেফের আর এক নাম সাফনত্-পানেহ রাখলেন| ফরৌণ য়োষেফকে আসনত্ নামে এক কন্যার সঙ্গে বিয়েও দিলেন| সে ছিল ওন নামক শহরে যাজক পোটীফরের কন্যা| এইভাবে য়োষেফ সমস্ত মিশর দেশের রাজ্যপাল হলেন|
And Pharaoh called Joseph’s name Zaphnath-paaneah; and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On. And Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.
46 য়োষেফের 30 বছর বয়সে তিনি মিশর দেশের রাজার সেবা করতে শুরু করলেন| তিনি সমস্ত মিশর দেশ ঘুরলেন|
And Joseph was thirty years old when he stood before Pharaoh king of Egypt. And Joseph went out from the presence of Pharaoh, and went throughout all the land of Egypt.
47 সাত বছর মিশরে খুব ভাল শস্য উত্পন্ন হল|
And in the seven plenteous years the earth brought forth by handfuls.
48 আর ঐ সাত বছর ধরে য়োষেফ মিশরে খাবার সঞ্চয় করলেন| প্রত্যেক শহরে শহরে য়োষেফ সেই শহরের আশেপাশের ক্ষেতে যা জন্মাত তার থেকে সংগ্রহ করতেন|
And he gathered up all the food of the seven years, which were in the land of Egypt, and laid up the food in the cities: the food of the field, which was round about every city, laid he up in the same.
49 য়োষেফ সমুদ্রের বালির মত এত শস্য সংগ্রহ করলেন য়ে তা মাপা গেল না কারণ তা মাপা সম্ভব ছিল না|
And Joseph gathered corn as the sand of the sea, very much, until he left numbering; for it was without number.
50 য়োষেফের স্ত্রী আসমত্ ছিলেন ওন শহরের যাজকের কন্যা| দুর্ভিক্ষের প্রথম বছর আসার আগেই য়োষেফ এবং আসমতের দুটি পুত্র হল|
And unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On bare unto him.
51 প্রথম পুত্রের নাম রাখা হল মনঃশি| য়োষেফ এই নাম দিলেন কারণ তিনি বললেন, “ঈশ্বর আমার সমস্ত কষ্ট ও আমার বাড়ীর সমস্ত চিন্তা ভুলে য়েতে দিলেন|”
And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh: For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father’s house.
52 য়োষেফ দ্বিতীয় পুত্রের নাম রাখলেন ইফ্রয়িম| য়োষেফ এই নাম রাখলেন কারণ তিনি বললেন, “আমার মহাকষ্টের মধ্যেও ঈশ্বর আমাকে ফলবান করেছেন|”
And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction.
53 সাত বছর লোকেরা খাদ্যের জন্য প্রচুর শস্য পেল| তারপর সেই বছরগুলো শেষ হল|
And the seven years of plenteousness, that was in the land of Egypt, were ended.
54 এবার দুর্ভিক্ষের সাতটা বছর শুরু হল ঠিক য়েমনটি য়োষেফ বলেছিলেন| সেই অঞ্চলের কোন দেশে কোথাও কোন খাদ্য শস্য জন্মালো না| কিন্তু মিশরের লোকদের জন্য য়থেষ্ট খাদ্য ছিল. কারণ য়োষেফ শস্য জমা করে রেখেছিলেন|
And the seven years of dearth began to come, according as Joseph had said: and the dearth was in all lands; but in all the land of Egypt there was bread.
55 দুর্ভিক্ষের সময় শুরু হলে লোকেরা খাদ্যের জন্য ফরৌণের কাছে এসে কান্নাকাটি করল| ফরৌণ মিশরীযদের বললেন, “যাও য়োষেফকে গিয়ে জিজ্ঞেস কর কি করতে হবে|”
And when all the land of Egypt was famished, the people cried to Pharaoh for bread: and Pharaoh said unto all the Egyptians, Go unto Joseph; what he saith to you, do.
56 সব জায়গায় দুর্ভিক্ষ দেখা দিলে য়োষেফ গুদাম থেকে লোকদের শস্য বিক্রি করতে শুরু করলেন| দুর্ভিক্ষ মিশরেও ভযাবহ রূপ নিল|
And the famine was over all the face of the earth: And Joseph opened all the storehouses, and sold unto the Egyptians; and the famine waxed sore in the land of Egypt.
57 সর্বত্রই সেই দুর্ভিক্ষ প্রবল হল, ফলে মিশরের আশেপাশের দেশ থেকেও লোকরা শস্য কিনতে এলো|
And all countries came into Egypt to Joseph for to buy corn; because that the famine was so sore in all lands.
