যাজক ও লেবীয়রা সকলে পরিচ্ছন্ন হয়ে বিশেষ দিনটির জন্য প্রস্তুত হলেন| লেবীয়রা বন্দীদশা থেকে ফিরে আসা ইহুদীদের সকলের জন্য, তাঁদের নিজেদের জন্য এবং তাঁদের যাজক ভাইদের জন্য নিস্তারপর্বের উত্সর্গীকৃত মেষটিকে বলি দিলেন|

তিনি অন্যান্য যাজকদের মতো নন৷ অন্যান্য যাজকদের মতো প্রতিদিন আগে নিজের পাপের জন্য ও পরে লোকদের পাপের জন্য বলি উত্‌সর্গ করার তাঁর কোন প্রযোজন নেই, কারণ তিনি যখন নিজেকে বলিরূপে একবার উত্‌সর্গ করেন তখনই তিনি সেই কাজ চিরকালের জন্য সম্পন্ন করেছেন৷
