তখন রাণী ইষ্টের উত্তর দিলেন, “হে রাজন, যদি সত্যিই আপনি আমাকে ভালবেসে থাকেন এবং আমি যা চাই তা দিয়ে সন্তুষ্ট হতে চান, তবে আমার বিনীত প্রার্থনা আপনি অনুগ্রহ করে আমায় জীবন ভিক্ষা দিন| আমায় বাঁচতে দিন আর আমার স্বজাতিদেরও বাঁচতে দিন| এটুকুই শুধু আমি চাই|

মর্দখয় তাকে ইহুদী হত্যার জন্য রাজার দেওয়া নির্দেশ-নামার একটি প্রতিলিপিও দিলেন| এই নির্দেশ-নামাটি শূশনের সর্বত্র পাঠানো হয়েছিল| তিনি হথককে নির্দেশ-নামাটি ইষ্টেরকে দেখিয়ে যা ঘটেছিল তা ব্যাখ্যা করতে বললেন| উপরন্তু তিনি তাকে ইষ্টেরকে রাজার কাছে গিয়ে তাঁর স্বজাতীযদের জন্য ও মর্দখযের জন্য ক্ষমা ভিক্ষা করার জন্য বলতে বললেন|

Esther 5:8
আমি একটি ভোজসভার আয়োজন করব এবং ঐ সভায় আমার ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করব|”

Esther 7:7
রাজা ভীষণ রুদ্ধ হয়ে পানপাত্র পরিত্যাগ করে বাগানে চলে গেলেন| কিন্তু হামন রাণী ইষ্টেরের কাছে প্রাণ ভিক্ষা করার জন্য থেকে গেলেন| হামন প্রাণ ভিক্ষা করছিলেন কারণ তিনি জানতেন, রাজা নিশ্চয়ই ইতিমধ্যেই তাঁকে হত্যা করার কথা ঠিক করে ফেলেছেন|

Job 2:4
তখন শয়তান উত্তর দিল, “নিজেকে রক্ষা করার জন্য য়ে কেউই যা কিছু করতে পারে|নিজের জীবন রক্ষা করার জন্য এক জন তার সর্বস্ব দিয়ে দেবে|
