“আমরা প্রতিশ্রুতি করছি, আমরা আমাদের ছেলেমেয়েদের আশেপাশের সমগোত্রীয়দের সঙ্গে বিয়ে হতে দেব না|

অতএব, ইস্রায়েলের লোকরা, তোমরা য়েন তোমাদের সন্তানসন্ততিদের ওই সব লোকদের সন্তানসন্ততিকে বিয়ে করতে দিও না| ওদের সঙ্গে কথাও বলো না| আমার আদেশ শুনলে তোমরা বলিষ্ঠ হয়ে উঠবে এবং এই ভূখণ্ডের যাবতীয় ভালো জিনিষ উপভোগ করতে পারবে এবং তোমাদের সন্তানসন্ততিদের হাতে এই ভূখণ্ডটি তুলে দিতে পারবে|”

তখন ইষ্রা উঠে দাঁড়ালেন এবং সেই সমাবেশকে সম্ভাষণ করলেন, “তোমরা সকলে ঈশ্বরের বিধি অমান্য করে তাঁর প্রতি অনাস্থা দেখিয়েছিলে এবং তোমরা বিজাতীয নারীদের বিয়ে করে ইস্রায়েলকে আরো দোষী করেছ|
