Ecclesiastes 2:21
এক জন ব্যক্তি তার সমস্ত প্রজ্ঞা, জ্ঞান ও পারদর্শীতা দিয়ে কঠিন পরিশ্রম করতে পারে| কিন্তু তার পরিশ্রমের ফল তার মৃত্যুর পর অন্য লোক ভোগ করবে| সেই লোকরা বিনা আয়াসে সব কিছু পেয়ে যাবে| এটাও অসার এবং এ একটা ভীষণ পাপ|

রাজা হিষ্কিয় যিহূদায় এই সমস্ত ভাল ভাল কাজ করেছিলেন| তিনি তাঁর প্রভু ঈশ্বরের দৃষ্টিতে যা কিছু ভাল ও মঙ্গলজনক সেই সমস্ত কাজ করেছিলেন|

মনঃশি প্রভুর বিরুদ্ধাচরণ করেছিলেন| যে সমস্ত জাতির লোকদের প্রভু ইস্রায়েলীয়রা আসার আগে পাপাচরণের জন্য তাদের ভূখণ্ড থেকে উত্খাত করেছিলেন, মনঃশি তাদের অনুসৃত ভযানক ও জঘন্য পথে জীবনযাপন করেন|

য়োশিয প্রভু বর্ণিত সত্ পথে জীবনযাপন করেছিলেন| তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দাযূদের মতোই তিনি বহু সত্কাজ করেন এবং এই পথ থেকে কখনও বিচ্যুত হননি|

সেই ভাব্বাদী শমূযেলের সমযের পর থেকে আর এভাবে ইস্রায়েলে নিস্তারপর্ব উদয়াপন করা হয়নি| য়োশিয যেভাবে যাজকদের সঙ্গে, লেবীয়দের সঙ্গে এবং সমগ্র যিহূদা ও ইস্রায়েলে জেরুশালেমের লোকেদের সঙ্গে এই নিস্তারপর্ব উদয়াপন করলেন, ইস্রায়েলের কোনো রাজাই আগে তা পালন করেন নি|

য়িহোযাকীম মাত্র 25 বছর বয়সে যিহূদার রাজা হয়ে এগারো বছর জেরুশালেমের রাজত্ব করেছিলেন| তিনি প্রভুর ইচ্ছা অনুসারে জীবনযাপনের পরিবর্তে তাঁর ঈশ্বরের বিরুদ্ধাচরণ করেছিলেন|
উপদেশক 9:18
যুদ্ধে ব্যবহৃত তরবারি ও তীরের চেয়ে জ্ঞান শ্রেয়| কিন্তু এক জন পাপী ভাল জিনিসকে নষ্ট করে ফেলতে পারে|
যেরেমিয়া 22:15
যিহোয়াকীম, তোমার প্রাসাদে অসংখ্য এরস বৃক্ষের কাঠ তোমাকে মহান রাজা করে দিতে পারবে না| তোমার পিতা য়োশিয খাদ্য ও পানীয় পেয়ে সন্তুষ্ট ছিলেন| তিনি সঠিক পথে সঠিক কাজ করেছিলেন| অতএব তাঁর ক্ষেত্রে সব কিছুই ভালো হয়েছিল|

যিহোয়াকীম, তোমার চোখ দুটো শুধু তোমার লাভের দিকটাই দেখে| তোমার সমস্ত ভাবনা হল লাভ নিয়ে এবং কি করে আরো বেশী কিছু পাবে তাই নিয়ে| তুমি ইচ্ছা করে নিরীহ মানুষকে হত্যা করেছো| স্বেচ্ছায় অন্যের জিনিস চুরি করেছো|
