যিহোশেবা ছিলেন রাজা য়োরামের কন্যা, অহসিয়ের বোন| তিনি যখন দেখলেন সমস্ত রাজপুত্রদের হত্যা করা হচ্ছে, তখন অহসিয়ের এক পুত্র য়োয়াশকে নিয়ে একটা শয়ন ঘরে এক জন পরিষেবিকার সঙ্গে লুকিয়ে রাখলেন| অতএব তাঁরা য়োয়াশকে অথলিয়ার কাছ থেকে লুকিয়ে রাখলেন এবং এই ভাবে সে নিহত হল না|

তাঁরা চলে যাবার পর প্রভুর এক দূত স্বপ্নে য়োষেফকে দেখা দিয়ে বললেন, ‘ওঠো!’ শিশুটি ও তাঁর মাকে নিয়ে মিশরে পালিয়ে যাও৷ যতদিন না আমি তোমাদের বলি, তোমরা সেখানেই থেকো, কারণ এই শিশুটিকে মেরে ফেলার জন্য হেরোদ এর খোঁজ করবে৷’
