দায়ূদ অবীশযকে বললেন, “বিখ্রিযের পুত্র শেবঃ আমাদের পক্ষে অবশালোমের চেয়েও ভয়ঙ্কর| তাই আমার আধিকারিকদের সঙ্গে নাও এবং শেবঃকে তাড়া কর| কোন প্রাচীর ঘেরা শহরে সে প্রবেশ করার আগেই এই কাজ কর| যদি সে কোন সুরক্ষিত শহরে ঢুকে পড়ে আমরা তাকে আর ধরতে পারব না|”

কিন্তু সরূযার পুত্র অবীশয সেই পলেষ্টীয়কে হত্যা করে দায়ূদকে বাঁচিয়ে দিল|তখন দায়ূদের লোকরা দায়ূদের কাছে একটা শপথ করল| তারা তাঁকে বলল, “আপনি আর কোনভাবেই আমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধে যেতে পারবেন না| যদি যান তাহলে ইস্রাযেল হয়তো তার মহান নেতাকে হারাবে|”

য়োয়াবের ভাই এবং সরূযার পুত্রের নাম অবীশয| অবীশয এই তিনজন য়োদ্ধার নেতা ছিল| অবীশয 300 শত্রুর বিরুদ্ধে তার বর্শাকে ব্যবহার করেছে এবং তাদের হত্যা করেছে| সেও এই তিন জন বীর য়োদ্ধার মতই বিখ্যাত হয়েছিল|
