And the Lord GOD of hosts is he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as by the flood of Egypt.

Jeremiah 12:4
কতদিন আর এই দেশ শুষ্ক থাকবে? ঐ দুষ্ট লোকদের কারণে এই দেশের পশু এবং পাখীরা মারা গিয়েছে| কিন্তু তবুও দুষ্ট লোকরা বলে, “আমাদের কি দশা হবে তা দেখার জন্য যিরমিয় ততদিন পর্য়ন্ত জীবিত থাকবে না|”

Isaiah 8:7
কিন্তু আমি, প্রভু অশূর রাজাকে আনব এবং তার সমস্ত ক্ষমতা তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে প্রযোগ করব| তারা ফরাত্‌ নদীর শক্তিশালী বন্যার জলের মতো আসবে| জল ফুলে ফেঁপে যেমন নদীর দুকূল ছাপিযে তেড়ে আসে সে ভাবে তারা আসবে|

এই কারণে, হে ঈশ্বর, সব অনুগামীদের আপনার প্রতি প্রার্থনা করা উচিত্‌| এমনকি, যখন প্লাবনের মত বিপর্য়যগুলি অন্যদের ওপর আসে, তখনও তারা আপনার অনুগামীদের কাছে আসবে না|
