অরামের রাজার সেনাপতি ছিল নামান| রাজার কাছে নামান ছিল এক জন মহান এবং খুব শ্রদ্ধেয ব্যক্তি, কারণ প্রভু সব সময় তাঁর মাধ্যমে অরামকে বিজয়ের পথে নিয়ে য়েতেন| নামান খুবই শক্তিশালী ও মহান হলেও তিনি কুষ্ঠ রোগাএান্ত ছিলেন|

2 Kings 7:4
শমরিয়ায তো একদানা খাবারও নেই| শহরে গেলেও আমরা মরব, এখানে থাকলেও মারা পড়ব| তার চেয়ে চল অরামীয়দের তাঁবুর দিকে যাওয়া যাক| ওরা চাইলে আমরা বেঁচেও য়েতে পারি, আর নয়তো মরতে হবে|”

2 Kings 8:4
মহারাজ তখন ইলীশায়ের ভৃত্য গেহসির সঙ্গে কথা বলছিলেন| তিনি গেহসিকে জিজ্ঞেস করছিলেন, “ইলীশায় য়েসব অতিপ্রাকৃত ঘটনা ঘটিয়েছেন, তুমি আমাকে সে সবের কথা বল|”

Jeremiah 8:14
“কেন আমরা এখানে বসে আছি? আশ্রয়ের জন্য আমাদের দুর্গবিশিষ্ট শহরগুলিতে যাওয়া যাক| যদি আমাদের প্রভু ঈশ্বর মারতেই চান, তাহলে সেখানে মরাই আমাদের পক্ষে ভাল| আমরা প্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করেছি| তাই ঈশ্বর আমাদের বিষাক্ত জল পান করতে দিয়েছেন|

আর যদি তুমি রাজি না হও তাহলে তুমি ও তোমার দেশের মানুষ মারা যাবে শএুর তরবারির আঘাতে অথবা অনাহার ও মহামারীর দাপটে| প্রভু উল্লেখ করেছিলেন য়ে যারা বাবিলের রাজাকে মানতে অস্বীকার করবে সেই দেশে এগুলি ঘটবে|
