1 Chronicles 11:6
দায়ূদ বললেন, “যিবূষীয়দের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধে য়ে আমার সেনাবাহিনীকে নেতৃত্ব দেবে তাকেই আমি আমার সেনাবাহিনীর সেনাপতি করব|” তখন সরূযার পুত্র য়োয়াব সেই আক্রমণের নেতৃত্ব দিলেন এবং তাঁকে ইস্রায়েলীয় সেনাবাহিনীর সেনাপতি করা হল|

অব্নের যখন হিব্রোণে এল, তখন য়োয়াব তার সঙ্গে কথা বলতে চায এই ভাবে তাকে প্রবেশ পথের মাঝখানে একধারে নিয়ে গেল| সেখানে অব্নেরের পেটে ছুরিকাঘাত করল এবং অব্নের মারা গেল| অব্নের য়োয়াবের ভাই অসাহেলকে হত্যা করেছিল তাই য়োয়াব অব্নেরকে হত্যা করল|

য়োয়াব ইস্রায়েলের সৈন্যবাহিনীর প্রধান ছিল| যিহোয়াদার পুত্র বনায করেথীয ও পলেথীযদের নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিল|
