அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்: நான் எப்படிப்போவேன்; சவுல் இதைக் கேள்விப்பட்டால், என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடுவானே என்றான்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: நீ ஒரு காளையைக் கையோடே கொண்டுபோய், கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடவந்தேன் என்று சொல்லி,

சாமுவேலோ, “நான் போனால், அதனை சவுல் அறிவான். என்னைக் கொல்ல முயல்வான்” என்றான். கர்த்தர், “பெத்லேகேமிற்கு ஒரு இளம் கன்றுக்குட்டியை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போ, ‘கர்த்தருக்கு பலி கொடுக்க வந்திருக்கிறேன். என்று சொல்.’
