யெரொபெயாம் என்பவன் பராக்கிரமசாலியாயிருந்தான்; அவன் காரிய சமர்த்தனான வாலிபன் என்று சாலொமோன் கண்டு, யோசேப்பு வம்சத்தாரின் காரியத்தையெல்லாம் அவன் விசாரிப்புக்கு ஒப்புவித்தான்.

யெரோபெயாம் உறுதிமிக்கவன். இவன் நல்ல வேலைக்காரன் என்பதைச் சாலொமோன் அறிந்துக்கொண்டான். யோசேப்பின் கோத்திரத்திலிருந்த வேலைக்காரர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் இவனைத் தலைவனாக்கினான்.

எரொபவாம் ஆற்றல் மிக்கவனாய் இருந்தான். அவன் செயல்திறமை மிக்க ஓர் இளைஞன் என்று கண்டு, சாலமோன் யோசேப்பு வீட்டிலிருந்து கட்டாய வேலைசெய்ய வந்த அனைவரையும் கண்காணிக்கும் பொறுப்பை அவனிடம் ஒப்படைத்திருந்தார்.
