யோனத்தானின் குமாரன் மெரிபால்; மெரிபால் மீகாவைப் பெற்றான்.

ஞானிகளைக் கொலைசெய்யவேண்டுமென்கிற கட்டளை வெளிப்பட்டபோது, தானியேலையும் அவன் தோழரையும் கொலைசெய்யத் தேடினார்கள்.

அரசனான நேபுகாத்நேச்சாரின் கட்டளை அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது. எல்லா ஞானிகளும் கொல்லப்படவிருந்தனர். அரசனது ஆட்கள் தானியேலையும் அவனது நண்பர்களையும் கொலை செய்வதற்காகத் தேடினார்கள்.
